Dear Players and Families of Katy Soccer Academy 14,
We want to take this time to announce an incredible opportunity and exciting change to the soccer club.
Following the conclusion of the Spring 2017 season, and in preparations for the Fall 2017 season, through our partnership with Capelli Sport, Katy Soccer Academy 14 (KSA 14) will officially become the newest member of the Cedar Stars Academy Green and White Family:
Cedar Stars Academy – Houston.
On behalf of both Cedar Stars Academy and KSA 14, we are excited to share this information with you, the families, as we take this step forward in the club’s development.
Cedar Stars Academy – Houston will become the first Cedar Stars Academy Branch outside of the New York/ New Jersey area.
As you know, our club objective is to provide a full-year, soccer training program that will help players develop to their greatest potential by focusing on top, quality instruction and exposure to the highest levels of competition. This merger will build upon those initiatives, as current KSA 14 players that tryout for future Cedar Stars Academy – Houston teams will gain access to the opportunities offered through the Cedar Stars Academy program, which includes direct access to top coaching, world-class tournament participation, future residential camps, and pathways to professional playing opportunities through the resources provided by the full-service, player-development academy.
Cedar Stars Academy began as a small, ambitious club, focused on providing the top development opportunities to players in the Northern New Jersey area, with the support of Founder and President George Altirs. Within six years, it has grown into one of the most successful youth soccer academies in the United States, focused on promoting the principles of good citizenship, good sportsmanship, and teamwork through the knowledge of, and participation in, the competitive sport of soccer.
Today, Cedar Stars Academy has four New Jersey branches in Bergen County, Newark, Monmouth County, and Morris County, two of which, Bergen County and Monmouth County, are official member clubs of the United States Soccer Development Academy (DA).
Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth is one of only two New Jersey clubs with both boys and girls Development Academy status, as the United States Girls’ Development Academy prepares to launch its inaugural season Fall 2017.
For the upcoming Spring 2017 season, KSA 14 will compete within its current leagues, with the current teams from the fall and winter 2016-2017 seasons.
Once the spring season is completed, KSA 14 will officially transition into the green and white family as Cedar Stars Academy – Houston with tryouts, the acceptance process, and our official Cedar Stars Academy uniforms as we prepare to take the field Fall 2017.
Next season (2017-2018) will provide a number of incredible opportunities with Cedar Stars Academy including, but not limited to:
On behalf of KSA 14 and Cedar Stars Academy – Houston, Armando Tarazona expressed his excitement surrounding the decision to join Cedar Stars Academy:
“We are tremendously excited to be a small part of a great Soccer Institution,” Tarazona said. “We welcome the great soccer resources, soccer education and more importantly, the integration of Cedar Stars Academy’s philosophy. I want to thank Cedar Star Academy for the great opportunity.”
Beginning Summer 2017, Cedar Stars Academy – Houston’s coaching staff will be led by
U.S. Soccer’s Youth Technical Director, Tab Ramos, through the academy’s extensive curriculum.
Our competitive focus at Cedar Stars Academy - Houston will remain on top, club-level competition, which includes participation in the South Texas Youth Soccer Association Dynamo and Dash League, Houston Youth Soccer Association, and the Texas Premier League.
President of Cedar Stars Academy, George Altirs, said the start of Cedar Stars Academy – Houston speaks volumes about the growth of both KSA 14 and Cedar Stars Academy:
“Cedar Stars Academy – Houston shows the desire and passion for great soccer training and education in the South,” Altirs said. “The start of this Cedar Stars Academy Branch also demonstrates the strength, quality and growth of Cedar Stars Academy’s philosophies, opportunities and education on the national level. We look forward to bringing our curriculum and opportunities to the best players in the Houston, Texas area.”
As it stands, KSA Soccer Fields in Katy, TX, will remain the primary training locations for Cedar Stars Academy – Houston. The objective is to have lights on the second grass field by the end of 2017.
We know that you will have questions regarding this transition to Cedar Stars Academy - Houston. Again, the official move will not take place until the conclusion of the Spring 2017 season. Thus, the current KSA 14 teams will remain in place until the tryout process for the 2017-2018 season begins.
We thank you for your continued hard work, dedication, and support and look forward to a great inaugural 2017-2018 season as Cedar Stars Academy - Houston!
Cedar Stars Academy, KSA 14 and the future Cedar Stars Academy – Houston Team
